Contact AA assurance standard Considering the recommendation by King III for the integrated report to be externally assured in the same way that the Consolidated Financial Statements are externally audited it makes sense to understand how your report is likely to be judged for its quality before embarking on its compilation.

AA is the most widely used standard. AA is an assurance standard designed to assist an organisation in the definition of goals and targets, the measurement of progress made against these targets, the auditing and reporting of performance and in the establishment of feedback mechanisms. In particular, the AA provides a means for others to judge the validity of claims your company may make in its reporting.

AA applies three key principles to reporting: Inclusivity Stakeholders either have a stake in, or are impacted by, the organisation. The organisation therefore needs to show, in its reporting, that it has engaged with its stakeholders, identified issues of mutual concern, and developed an accountable and strategic response to these issues in order to sustain its relationship with society over the long term. Materiality When reading an integrated report, stakeholders need to be assured that the issues being discussed are the most important to the long-term sustainability of the organisation.

The report needs to show that issues chosen are relevant, i. This is realised through decisions, actions and performance, as well as communication with stakeholders.

AA assurance can be conducted at various levels. But note that there is no lengthy checklist of issues to tick off. As can be seen from the description of the GRI guidelines earlier, there is a strong reinforcement of the main tenets of good reporting.
